    Michael Abrams

Michael Abrams, having collaborated with a number of top publishers he has illustrated his characters in book form for Harper Collins which were published in 2000 and designed a full range of ceramics for Wedgwood featuring one of his characters. He has also worked as an animator in Hungary and creative director in Thailand, overseeing production of a series of his own sculptures. In 2010 Michael’s fine art work was snapped by Washington Green, one of UK’s top fine art Publishers, who published limited edition prints and exhibited his original artworks, many of which are part of collections worldwide.

One of his renowned series of paintings, the ‘Hound heads”, feature people with Hound heads in place of their own. These images include whimsical, intriguing, and often powerful messages behind their pops of vibrant colour, giving a dream like quality. Adding complex psychological dimensions give an unnatural presence to the work that can be interpreted in many ways. Michael Abrams has created a whole world of everyday moments for his Hound head characters while their expressionless faces give them an innocence and vulnerability which is both appealing and mysterious. A profound work depicting every aspect of life and existential condition, well hidden behind the vibrant colours which contrast his carefully chosen greyscale hues.
